PEPPERDINE LOSES IN OT
No. 25 Santa Clara hands Waves third straight 1-0 defeat

Mariana Galvan scored her second overtime goal of the weekend Sunday, lifting No. 25 Santa Clara past visiting Pepperdine's women, 1-0, in a West Coast Conference clash.

Galvan scored from a Hailai Arghandiwal cross in the 103rd minute for the Broncos (9-4-0 overall, 2-1-0 WCC), who dominated the match, with ample advantages in shots (13-4) and shots on goal (7-2). Galvan's 110th-minute goal beat Loyola Marymount, 2-1, on Friday.

Hannah Seabert made six saves to keep the Waves (6-6-2, 1-3-0) in contention.

Pepperdine, which has dropped three successive 1-0 decisions and is 2-5-2 since an early September win over Toledo, is at the bottom of the WCC, along with San Diego and Pacific, six points off the lead.

The Waves are off until Oct. 23, when they play at home against Gonzaga.
