Meet the candidates, and vote!

USC junior defender Kayla Mills is one of three nominees for the LA Soccer News women’s college player of the year and a contender for the Soccer News Net Women’s College Boot, recognizing the national player of the year.

Mills, from West Covina, Calif., is among America's premier young outside backs, and her presence was pivotal to the Trojans' run to second place in the Pacific 12 Conference and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Division I tournament. The second-team All-America selection was a force for USC's attack, contributing two goals and six assists and playing a huge role in the possession game, and a key reason Trojan foes tallied only 13 times in 23 games. She has eight goals and 16 assists in 64 career matches for USC, is a member of the U.S. under-23 national team and has experience with the U.S. U-20s and U-17s.

Fan voting accounts for 40 percent toward selection of the Soccer News Net College Boot, and the winner of the popular voting receives the Soccer News Net Supporters’ Choice award. Voting for the College Boot is open through Dec. 16.
