LIGA MX CLAUSURA
Pachuca wins the championship
Monterrey 1, Pachuca 1 (Pachuca wins 2-1 on aggregate)
Pachuca played top seeds Monterrey to a 1-1 draw in Sunday's second leg of the Gran Final at Estadio BBVA Bancomer, enough to give them the Clausura championship by a 2-1 aggregate score.
Victor Guzman put the series away with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time. The Tuzos were shorthanded at the time, having lost defender Aquivaldo Mosquera to a red card in the 74th minute.
The Rayados, who dropped the first leg 1-0 Thursday at Estadio Hidalgo, got a 39th-minute goal from Dorlan Pabon to level the aggregate score.
Monterrey had an early chance by Edwin Cardona, whose long shot was knocked over the bar by Oscar Perez in the third minute, then Jose Maria Basanta headed over the bar.
The Rayados were poised to get on the board in the 33rd minute, after defender Emmanuel Garcia fouled Neri Cardozo inside the penalty area. But Cardona overstruck the ball, sending it over the goal. Pabon finally broke through, sending a shot glancing off the post and into the net.
Rogelio Funes Mori appeared to have given Monterrey the series lead in the 53rd minute, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
