OC Blues down Los Dos
IRVINE, Calif. -- The Orange County Blues FC snapped a two-match losing streak in taking a 2-0 win over the LA Galaxy II Saturday night.
Trevin Caesar scored in the 19th and 61st minutes for the Blues (7-9-4, 25 points), who moved into ninth, one place out of a playoff spot, in the USL Western Conference.
Caesar beat the offside trap, took Christopher Santana’s through ball, and rounded the onrushing Dan Kennedy for the opening goal.
The Galaxy struggled offensively and was limited to set piece threats in the opening half.
The Galaxy threatened early in the second half as Blues goalkeeper Brandon Miller was nearly caught in possession, his attempted clearance deflecting just past the goal.
Former Premier League midfielder Richard Chaplow made his Blues debut in the 55th minute. Caesar then capitalized on a long clearance, making a long run and going in alone to beat Kennedy with a strong drive to the near post for a two-goal advantage.
The Galaxy (9-3-8, 35 points) failed to attempt a shot on goal in the second half.
